The concept for the Eco Tour is to enjoy Namibia and all its beauty and have as little detrimental effect on the ecology as possible.
The establishments used in this itinerary have all been awarded five desert flowers from the Eco Awards Namibia, the highest rating an establishment can receive. Eco Awards Namibia is an alliance of private sector and government organisation that runs a sustainable tourism certification programme. Eco Awards Namibia is a mark of distinction for accommodation establishments that are planned and managed according to eco-friendly principles. The programme promotes the selective and careful use of Namibian resources, promoting reducing, recycling and reusing. The programme is based on similar schemes in several other countries, and the criteria that those schemes use were amended to suit the Namibian environment. Awarding of an Eco Awards desert flower certificate is a sign that the establishment keeps to a standard of environmental care and implements sustainable practices for the future of the immediate environment, the company and the people.
Activities are undertaken with the specific aim of helping conservation efforts and still allow leisure time.
This programme offers you the opportunity to travel clean by planting trees in order to offset your vehicle’s direct carbon emissions at the end of your adventure.
